Cheap Dental Implants

Updated on November 17, 2010

If you have already been searching around the internet looking up prices for dental implants, you may have begun to realize that the prices for them can get quite expensive.  While the price for a single dental implant can be $1,000-$3,000, you can begin to get into $25,000 and $50,000 for a whole dental reconstruction surgery.

With prices that high, it's no wonder that you're searching for cheap dental implants.  Even at a discount on some of these prices, they can be extremely high, and have you paying them off for many, many months.  In fact, some videos about dental implants that I have seen relate the prices of the implants to that of a car, and those are coming from the dentists themselves.  It is definitely no secret how high the prices are, but there are definitely some ways that you can get cheap dental implants.  It does depend on some financial situations, and other circumstances, but I am going to help you to by telling you some things you can do in order to get cheaper dental implants.

Beware of Free Dental Implants

While it is nice to find cheap dental implants, how much nicer is it to find free dental implants? The problem is, a lot of the advertisements that are advertising dental implants are scams. There are different ways that the companies go about this trickery, and so I am going to give you a few of them to look out for:

  • The first is hidden fees. Dentists will get you into the office, get you in the chair for the surgery, and get to work. Then, when you're done with the surgery you'll find out that there were a lot of hidden fees associated with the dental implant surgery. Some of these are legitimate expenses, but sometimes the dentists try to extract extra money by adding superficial fees. Be sure to talk with the different dentists to get an idea of what extra charges and fees you might incur.
  • Realize that these "free implants" are for the implant only, and no other services. Sometimes they will charge you for the surgery, while making sure to keep the actual titanium implant free. Others will even do the surgery for free, but you'll need to realize that you'll have to pay for the veneers or the fake teeth.

Just be sure to talk with the dentists and find out exactly what you're getting into. Often times though, "free dental implants" are just a marketing ploy, so make sure you don't get fooled by those enticing offers in your search for cheap dental implant prices.

And it doesn't hurt to ask.  Simply explaining your situation is a great options for how to get dentists to give you cheaper rates on dental implants.  It won't work for all dentists, but it is definitely worth a shot.

Dental Insurance Helps

With the expensive prices of dental implants, one of the ways to get a cheap dental implant is to get dental insurance.  Different insurance companies cover stuff differently, so there's no specific price I can give you as to how much cheaper they are.  You will have to look into the different dental insurance options to figure out which one will get you the best prices.

One thing to look out for is that some dental insurance companies won't cover dental implants, because sometimes it is for a cosmetic reason.  So, definitely talk with them about your specific needs and if they'll be able to cover what you need.  There is no point in paying for insurance specifically for dental implants if they don't even cover the dental implants.

American Dental Association

Another great place to look for cheaper dental implants is with the American Dental Association.  They will be able to refer you with some of the dentists that are near you, who are willing to work for reduced rates depending on your income situation.  A lot of the people who get dental implants are on a fixed income, and often times they will be able to qualify for the cheaper dental implants rates from the various dentists.  be sure to shop around because you may be able to get a better rate from one dentist over another, even if both of them offer reduced rates compared to the rest of the dentists in the area.

Find a Dental School for Cheap Dental Implants

Often times, one of the best places to get cheap dental work, including a cheap dental implant, is at the local dental school.  Look up the dental school in the phone book or online and contact them.  often times there are dental students there who need to get their hours in, and so they are willing and able to work for very cheap prices, and sometimes even for free.  They are always under the supervision of a licensed dentist during the procedures.
